The FIFA World Cup has been played since 1930. The 2026 edition in the United States, Canada and Mexico was the first with 48 teams, which added a new Round of 32 and grew the schedule to 104 matches. Spain won it, beating Argentina 1–0 after extra time in the final in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.

The 11 World Cup tiles

The ladder follows a team’s path through the tournament. You start with qualifying, then play the group stage and the Round of 32, the extra knockout round created for the 48-team format in 2026. The Round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals lead to the final. After that come the three big individual awards: the Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper, the Golden Boot for the top scorer and the Golden Ball for the best player. The World Cup Trophy, the gold trophy used since 1974, sits on the 2048 tile.

Tips to win World Cup 2048

  1. Defend one corner like a back four. Keep your biggest tile there and build the next one alongside it, so the final merge into the trophy is a short pass.
  2. Set up your tiles in order along one edge: Golden Ball, Golden Boot, Golden Glove, The Final. That shape lets merges move forward together like a good passing move.
  3. Do not swipe in all four directions. Stick to three, and press the fourth only when it cannot shift your big tile, or a small Qualifier tile may slip in behind your defence.
