Play Christmas 2048 online

Christmas 2048 is the classic number puzzle wrapped up for the holidays. Every tile is a festive symbol, and merging two of the same moves you closer to Christmas Eve. Start with a single snowflake and keep merging until Santa Claus himself appears. It is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, a good way to pass time between celebrations.

Many of these symbols have clear origins. Decorated Christmas trees come from German tradition and spread in Britain after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were pictured with one in the 1840s. Santa’s flying reindeer were named in the 1823 poem A Visit from St. Nicholas, and Rudolph was added in 1939 in a booklet by Robert L. May.

The 11 Christmas tiles

The ladder counts down to Christmas Eve. It starts with the first snowflake and a jingle bell, then a cosy mitten and the cookie left out for Santa. The stocking hangs by the fire, and the snowman stands outside. The wrapped gift comes next, then a reindeer from the sleigh team and the decorated Christmas tree. The sleigh is loaded and ready to fly. The 2048 tile is Santa Claus, the figure who brings it all together and whose visit is the high point of the night.

Tips to win Christmas 2048

  1. Choose one corner as the North Pole and keep your best tile there. The Sleigh should stay next to it, so a second Sleigh can merge into Santa Claus.
  2. Build a falling row like Christmas Tree, Reindeer, Gift, Snowman. When a new Snowman merges in, the whole row can climb toward the corner.
  3. Avoid the move that pushes your top tile away from its wall. If you have to make it, swipe back right away before a Snowflake fills the gap.
