Dogs 2048 is the classic merge puzzle with a wagging tail. Every tile is a dog breed, and two matching dogs merge into a bigger breed. Start with a tiny Chihuahua, work up through family favourites and finish with the towering Great Dane. It is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, no download needed.

Dogs have been bred for very different jobs, which is why they come in such different sizes. Dachshunds were bred in Germany to hunt badgers, and their name means badger dog. Border Collies herd sheep, Beagles track by scent and Labradors are widely trained as guide dogs. The Chihuahua is the smallest breed, while the Great Dane is one of the tallest.

The 11 dog breed tiles

The tiles run roughly from the smallest breed to the largest. The Chihuahua, named after a Mexican state, comes first, then the Yorkshire Terrier, first bred to catch rats in English mills, and the fox-faced Pomeranian. The Pug and the long Dachshund lead to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, a herding dog famously kept by Queen Elizabeth II. Next come the Beagle, the Border Collie and the Labrador Retriever. The German Shepherd is a police and service dog, and the Great Dane, a true giant, takes the 2048 tile.

Tips to win Dogs 2048

  1. Give your biggest dog a home corner and keep it there. If the Labrador sits bottom-left, press down and left most of the time so it never wanders off.
  2. Line breeds up in size order along one edge, like Border Collie next to Beagle next to Corgi. When the small one merges, the next merge follows.
  3. Round up small tiles like Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier early. If they scatter across the board, you will run out of space for bigger merges.

Dogs 2048 FAQ

What is the final tile in Dogs 2048?

The final tile is the Great Dane, one of the tallest dog breeds in the world. Often called a gentle giant, it sits at the top because the ladder runs from the smallest breed to the largest.

What order do the dog tiles go in?

Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pomeranian, Pug, Dachshund, Corgi, Beagle, Border Collie, Labrador, German Shepherd and Great Dane, ordered roughly by the size of each breed.

Is Dogs 2048 free?

Yes. Dogs 2048 is free to play in your browser, with no download and no account. Your best score is kept on your device so you can try to beat it later.

Why is the Corgi tile marked with a crown?

Queen Elizabeth II kept Pembroke Welsh Corgis for most of her life and owned more than 30 of them, so the breed is closely linked with the British royal family.
