Desserts 2048 is the classic sliding-tile puzzle served on a dessert trolley. Every tile is a sweet treat, and merging two of the same turns them into something fancier. Start with a single cookie and keep going until you build a tiered wedding cake. It is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no download.

The ladder visits desserts from around the world. Mooncakes are eaten during China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, flan is a caramel custard loved in Spain and Latin America, and tiramisu comes from the Veneto region of Italy, where it was popularised in the 1960s and 1970s. A chocolate fondue and a full wedding cake finish the menu.

The 11 dessert tiles

The tiles go from quick snacks to celebration centrepieces. A cookie and a glazed donut are the everyday treats, then come the cold ones, shaved ice and an ice cream sundae. Flan and the Chinese mooncake add a world tour, and the frosted cupcake and apple pie bring bakery classics. Tiramisu, the coffee-soaked Italian layered dessert, is a step up again. Chocolate fondue is a dessert for sharing at the table. The 2048 tile is the wedding cake, the tall tiered cake that is the grandest dessert at most celebrations.

Tips to win Desserts 2048

  1. Put your best dessert in a corner and leave it there. Keep Fondue right next to it so a second Fondue can merge straight into the Wedding Cake.
  2. Build a falling row such as Tiramisu, Apple Pie, Cupcake, Mooncake. Merging the smallest one can then move the whole row up a course.
  3. Keep low tiles like Cookie and Donut on the far side of the board. Merge them there and slide the results toward your chain instead of mixing them in.
