Limes 2048 is the classic number puzzle with a sour, green twist. Every tile is something to do with limes, and merging two of the same moves you up the ladder from a single seed to a whole Key lime pie. It is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and you can start a new round whenever you like.

Limes have a long history at sea. British sailors drank citrus juice to prevent scurvy, which is where the old nickname limey comes from. Today the limes in most shops are Persian limes, while the smaller Key lime gives Key lime pie its name. That pie is the official state pie of Florida.

The 11 lime tiles

The ladder follows a lime from the ground to the dessert plate. It starts with a seed, a fragrant leaf and the small white blossom. Then comes the fruit itself, cut into a wedge and a slice, with the grated zest that holds most of the aroma. From there the tiles turn into things made with limes: cold limeade, a frozen lime sorbet and lime pickle, a spicy condiment common in South Asian cooking. The lime tree is the harvest, and the 2048 tile is Key lime pie, the Florida dessert made with lime juice and condensed milk.

Tips to win Limes 2048

  1. Plant your biggest tile in one corner and let it grow there. Keep the Lime Tree right next to it so another Lime Tree can turn the pair into Key Lime Pie.
  2. Build a row that steps down, such as Lime Pickle, Lime Sorbet, Limeade, Lime Zest. When the smallest one merges, the rest can follow toward the corner.
  3. Do not chase every small merge. Sometimes a quiet move that keeps your row in order is better than a merge in the middle that leaves gaps behind.

Limes 2048 FAQ

What is the final tile in Limes 2048?

The final tile is Key Lime Pie. It is the most famous lime dessert and the official state pie of Florida, so it sits above the lime tree as the reward for reaching 2048.

What is the difference between a Key lime and a regular lime?

Key limes are smaller, rounder and more aromatic, with more seeds. The common lime sold in most supermarkets is the larger Persian lime, also called the Tahiti lime.

Is Limes 2048 free?

Yes. Limes 2048 is free to play in any modern browser. There is no download, no sign-up and no time limit.

How do I get a higher score in Limes 2048?

Each merge adds the new tile’s value to your score, so bigger merges are worth more. Keep the largest tile in a corner and build a tidy chain beside it to keep the merges coming.
