Play Pasta 2048 online

Pasta 2048 is the classic sliding number puzzle cooked up in an Italian kitchen. Every tile is a pasta shape or dish, and merging two of the same moves you to the next course. Start with tiny orzo and keep merging until you pull a baked lasagne from the oven. It is free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer.

Pasta names often describe their shapes. Penne means quills, farfalle means butterflies, fusilli comes from the word for a spindle, and orzo is Italian for barley. Spaghetti means little strings. Many dishes come from one city or region, such as pesto from Genoa, carbonara from Rome and tortellini from Bologna and Modena.

The 11 pasta tiles

The ladder goes from the smallest shape to the most filling dish. Orzo, fusilli, penne and farfalle are dried shapes, each named for what it looks like. Spaghetti is the long classic, and gnocchi are soft dumplings usually made with potato. Ravioli and ring-shaped tortellini are stuffed pastas. Then come finished dishes: pasta with pesto, the basil sauce from Genoa, and carbonara, the Roman dish of egg, cheese and cured pork. The 2048 tile is lasagne, sheets of pasta layered with sauce and baked, a dish for the whole table.

Tips to win Pasta 2048

  1. Keep your best tile in one corner like a pot on the back burner. Carbonara should sit next to it so a second Carbonara can merge into Lasagne in place.
  2. Build a falling row such as Pesto Pasta, Tortellini, Ravioli, Gnocchi. A merge at the small end can then cook its way up the whole row.
  3. Keep Orzo and Fusilli tiles away from your best row. Merge them on the open side of the board and slide the results across when they are big enough.

Pasta 2048 FAQ

What is the final tile in Pasta 2048?

The final tile is Lasagne. Layered and baked, it is the most filling pasta dish on the ladder and usually made to share, so it tops the shapes and sauces below it.

What does penne mean?

Penne is Italian for pens or quills. The tubes are cut at an angle so they look like the tip of an old quill pen, which is why the tile uses a pen emoji.

Where does carbonara come from?

Carbonara comes from Rome. The traditional version is made with eggs, Pecorino Romano cheese, black pepper and guanciale, a cured pork cheek, without cream.

Can I play Pasta 2048 on a computer?

Yes. Use the arrow keys on a computer or swipe on a phone or tablet. It is free to play in any modern browser.
